About INMANTEC Institutions

Information Resource Center
Information Resource Center (IRC) of INMANTEC is fully computerized with the help of Open Source Library Management Software Koha. The IRC delivers user focused innovative information products, services and programs of the highest quality that are integrated with teaching, learning and research activities. The collection of the library covers latest information resources on all areas of Management, Information Technology, Law and Education. The center occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the institute. The IRC maintains publication exchange program of the institute with regional, national, international institutions and organizations. The library services include Internet service, online database searching facility, CD-ROM service, Reprography Service Inter Library Loan Service etc.
About the Workshop Theme
World over, libraries are constantly facing challenges to meet the ever increasing expectations of users due to lack of funds. Therefore, it is high time that libraries upgrade their services and systems using innovative approaches and making use of latest technology to fulfill ever increasing users’ expectations. Open source software for automation and modernization of services offers a great opportunity for librarians and has come handy in meeting users’ expectations.
KOHA is the first open-source Integrated Library System (ILS) developed in 1999 by Katipo communications, New Zealand. Koha is web based multilingual Integrated Library System designed to cater automation needs of medium to large libraries. It is customizable open source software (OSS).
D-Space is an Open Source repository Software for academic, non-profit and commercial organizations building open digital repositories. It is free and easy to Install, “out of the box”, and completely customizable to fit the needs of any organization. D Space is popular software to develop institutional Repositories (IR).
The first Public Version of D-Space was released in November 2002, as a joint effort between developers from MIT and HP Labs.
Objectives of the Workshop are:
- To create awareness among professionals about open source technology & its application in library.
- To equip Librarians with new skills and knowledge of the nascent IT development which is essential for providing better library services to the users.
- To maintain and enhance library services.
- To help participants in understanding the Open source Software Koha to automate their libraries and upgrade their service quality.
- To help participants in understanding the open source software D-Space to organizing building open digital repository.

Accommodation
Accommodation on charged basis can be arranged in guesthouse/Hostel. Details may be inquired from the organizing secretary. Organizers shall provide necessary assistance if informed well in advance.
Delhi Library Association
The Delhi Library Association is one of the oldest library associations in India. It was founded on 10th March 1939 and registered in 1940 under the societies act xxi of 1860. DLA has been striving to promote library movement in Delhi; provide training facilities in library science; strengthen co-operation among libraries in Delhi and work for the improvement of library service; improve the status and the working conditions of persons employed in the libraries; take up publication work in library science; and co-operate with other organizations having similar objectives. DLA has contributed a lot towards the betterment of the library profession in the country.
DLA has been conducting Certificate Course in Library Science (1955) and Diploma in library & Information Technology (2003). DLA has been designated as one of the Study Centres for IGNOU BLISc and MLISc courses. Besides publishing a peer reviewed quarterly journal ‘Library Hearld’ (1958), DLA has been very active in organizing memorial lectures, seminars, conferences, instituting awardsetc. from time to time.
Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development (RSSWLD)
Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development (RSSWLD): A CSR implementation arm of BIMTECH, came into existence in 2009 with the aims to facilitate the dissemination of Knowledge and information at the grass root level by setting up libraries in the prisons and rural areas. The Society primary goal is intellectual development of the underprivileged sections of society so that they can avail Competitive employment opportunities and leads a dignified social existence. So far RSSWLD has established libraries in four Prisons, i.e.- Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Aligarh and three more in Merrut, Etawah and Firozabad are in the pipeline. RSSWLD has established eight rural libraries and four Computer Centres in nearby villeges of Gautam Budh Nagar (UP).
