A Two Day Librarian Development Programme On “New Skills for Library Professionals in the Digital Age”

About INMANTEC Institutions
Integrated Academy of Management and Technology, fondly known as INMANTEC, is striving hard to get globally recognized as a hub of professional education. Information Resource Center
Information Resource Center (IRC) of INMANTEC is fully computerized with the help of Open Source Software library management software Koha. The IRC delivers user focused innovative information products, services and programs of the highest quality that are integrated with teaching, learning and research activities. The collection of the library covers latest information resources on all areas of Management, Information Technology, Law and Education. The center occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the institute. The IRC maintains publication exchange program of the institute with regional, international, national, foreign institutions and organizations. The library services include Internet service, online database searching facility, CD-ROM service, Reprography Service and Inter Library Loan Service.
About the LDP Theme
Librarian’s prime motto is to provide services in the best possible manner to the users. With emergence of digital technologies role and responsibilities of librarians are changing. A librarian is supposed to possesses new set of skills that require in this changing digital environment. Lack of these skills otherwise will hamper the quality of work of librarian and he won’t be able to serve his users in best possible manner.
Keeping this in mind, a two day Librarian Development Programme is being organized by INMANTEC in collaboration with MANLIBNET. This Programme is aimed and designed to train & develop Library Professionals to meet the new skills requirement in the changing digital scenario. This programme will act as a catalyst to boost their knowledge and skills and they will turn to be an asset for the organization they work for.
Objectives of the LDP are:-
- To familiarize the participants with the emerging digital technology
- To make them understand new challenges occurring in the library profession due to rise of digital technologies
- To learn the new skills required to meet these challenges
- Ways to further improve library services using digital technology
- Learn new ways to better serve the users using technology edge
- To unleash the hidden potential, overcoming the past conditioning and limited beliefs to become a better and complete librarian
Benefits
The proposed LDP will help the LIS Professionals to face new challenges posed by digital technologies, generate opportunities, convert failure into success and generate enthusiasm and motivation. It will also help in nurturing and promoting the hidden qualities of leadership within themselves.
Registration Charges
Rs. 1000/- for Sponsored LIS Professionals
Rs. 800/- for Student & Research Scholars
Last date of Registration 5th Dec 2016
Delegates are requested to fill the registration form and return the same along with workshop fee to the Organizing Secretary latest by 5th Dec 2016. Registration will include kit, lunch and tea.
(Intake: A total 60 participants will be enrolled on the first cum first basis)
Accommodation
Accommodation on charged basis can be arranged in guesthouse/Hostel. Details may be inquired from the organizing secretary. Organizers shall provide necessary assistance if informed well in advance.

Management Libraries Network – MANLIBNET
Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) was established in the year 1998 and was registered as a Society under societies Registration Act of 1860 in the year 2000.It is a movement for sharing of resources and information among the libraries by fostering a spirit of cooperation and weaving them together in a networking arrangement. The main objectives of MANLIBNET are to provide a common forum to the professionals; and to develop understanding and co-operation particularly among management and business libraries for resource sharing. The first national convention was held in 1998 at Indian institute of management, Ahemedabad(IIMA) .This was followed by a series of conferences and seminars at various places including IIML, IIMK, XLRI, University of Delhi, ICSSR, IMT Ghaziabad, Nirma University, IIMI, EDI Ahmedabad, TAPMI Manipal etc. The network has so far organized sixteen national conventions.
